Here we go, I finally finished a new series of pictures.
I usually spend most of my time editing clients’ pictures, which leaves me little room for my own creative vibes. But Singapore has been hit with the wave of Coronavirus since January and business has been down since then… And I’m obviously very stress about that (and so many other things related to the current situation obviously).
but,
“when life gives you lemons, make lemonade”!!
So I decided to spent some time thinking about what I like to photograph for myself and make a series around it.
I like black and white, I like nature, I like minimalism, ….
I will just put a little sample here.

Week 7 of my new series: My Lay Flat Mondays!!
The purpose: describe my past week in just one picture, boots my creativity vibes at the same time, and stop going through life one week at the time without even noticing it. I will still have longer blog posts whenever I can, but also this mini weekly one picture posts :-).
So here it is!
Week 7: Mar 23 – Mar 29
– Palm tree branch: living tropical
– Orchids: same as last week, and still looking great
– mask: sadly no need to introduce that one anymore, and yes I have been using the same exact mask for these pictures for the last 7 weeks (and to ride the bus when necessary), so no worries, no wasting here!
– tablet: more and more e-learning for the kids, but also for me (loving Creative Live!)
– ArtZen colouring book: for some low-key indoor fun time with my girls
– book: “Colomb de la Lune”, René Barjavel (my favourite author, I even named my first girl like a character of one of his books)
– Oranges: for a yummy juicy boost of Vitamin C
– Camera

Week 5: Mar 09 – Mar 15
– Eucalyptus branch: still smelling strong!!
– mask / french passport / picture of Italy: because how not to think about all the people affected by the corona virus all around the world but right now particularly in Italy, and how not to worry about my family in France (I usually feel bad to be 14h flight away from them – not even talking about the train to and from the airport – but now there is almost no planes available and there would be 14 days quarantine both ways, so I feel so so so far away, when I wish I could just take my car, and buy groceries for them and keep them safe …)
– swimming goggles: mine this time – I practise my social distancing at the pool doing laps, and it also helps me keep some sanity
– nectarines: to fill up my kids with healthy food
– Anthurium flower from my balcony

(and yes I realised while editing the picture that I forgot to add the surgical mask – even though the corona virus is still very much around and spreading to the whole World – but it’s been affecting Singapore for many weeks now and the same way I see less people wearing masks in public transportation, I just forgot about it for a little while)

The colours of Singapore – one of my favorite photography subjects.
It’s funny but from Europe I’ve imagined Singapore as a very modern (which comes in my mind with greyish-glassyish buildings), and while it’s partly true, the Red Little Dot is so much more.
I already talked about all the beautiful green places all around the island, but another charming trait of Singapore is all the traditional colourful Peranakan shophouses all around the city. Who can see them in Little India, Emerald Hill, Chinatown, …, and of course Joo Chiat.
Joo Chiat is a small and charming neighbourhood, toward the east coast, well worth a stroll.
I arrived there early in the morning, and was welcome by singing birds on a balcony.
And of course I admire many Peranakan shophouses. All with different facades, all colourful, all full of history and charm. Here is just a few sample.
I stopped a few minutes near a very small temple, between two condos.
And like I always do, I enjoyed walking around the back streets, taking pictures of bikes (another ones of my favorites subjects) and hunting colours in every corner.
and hunting colours in every corner.
What’s your favourite part of Singapore?
