Shades of Green

My last photowalk took me to the Botanic Gardens of Singapore. The whole park is beautiful – it’s afterall an UNESCO World Heritage Site!

I love going there for several reasons:

– it’s a garden – it’s beautiful (did I mention that before??)

– there’s lots of shade (yes, it’s a big big bonus point when you’re living on the Equator!!)

– there’s lot of flowers and leaves of many shapes and colours to satisfy my love for macrophotography(yes I know, when you think macrophotography you think bugs – but apart from butterflies, dragonflies and ladies bugs (flying things really), you will notice very little bugs on my portfolio, the reason being that I’m not the bravest in the room when it comes to bugs and my daughter, miss E, would even tell you that in the presence of a spider (whatever the size) I turn cuckoo).

Anyway, in my already 6 years in Singapore I took many pictures in the parc, but very little landscape / wide angle shots. No, what I really like to do is getting lost in the leaves, pattern, colours, …I will walk very slowly, hunting for THE picture – until I come across a spider, and then I can be very fast!

Here is a few pics! You can also find them on my Galleries:- Travel / Singapore / Botanic Gardens: https://www.mermozinefineart.com/botanicgardens-photography-singapor – Green Lush: https://www.mermozinefineart.com/greenlush-singaporephotography

– Black board: my little boy was sick this week… so tired mama here….

– Book: “Les Trois Petites Filles” by les Belles Histoires. My girls favorite book for me to read to them. I have not read it to them in a long time but this week they rediscovered it! It was actually mine when I was their age.

– Palm tree Leaf: living tropical

– Chess pieces: my new set of chess pieces. Yes I’m a total beginner but my hubby is a serious player and the whole family is now playing! And of course I needed a red set ;-).

– Book: “La demi-pensionnaire” by Didier van Cauwelaert. My second book from this author and I really enjoy his style. Even though the subject treated is pretty serious (physical handicap for one character and dementia for another one), this book still made me smile.

– Black board: Chandeleur or “Crêpes Day” is a French celebration on February 2nd. Its origins are religious but now it’s mostly The day in France when everyone eats “crêpes”. So yes, of course I do it too!

– Lemons: well, for me the best way to eat crêpes is with sugar and lemon juice… yummy!!!

– Mask: yes still mandatory,

– Palm tree Leaf: living tropical

– Green branch :-): I know that’s not very specific but I don’t know the name of it! It lives on my balcony as it was a gift from one of my girls last year for my birthday and it grew so big so fast that I can now prune big branches like that…

– Coffee: for a nice coffee meet-up with friends this week

– Book: “Domovoï’ from Julie Moulin. I just discover this author and will definitely read more books from her. Really nice novel with two generation of french women discovered Russia in the 1990’s and now.

– Black board: well France is now living in its bubble… with no entries from outside of the UE allowed. For most french people it’s not a big deal really but for us, french expats living outside the UE, that’s very hard to swallow. I have not been able to visit my parents for 18 months now because o the travel restrictions already in place in Singapore but I was ready to do it no matter the cost this coming summer…. so hopefully things will improve by then, but in the meantime thinking that I would be allowed to go visit my parents only if they’re dying is really really hard…
